Trump Vows to Make US ‘Crypto Capital of the Planet’ if Elected

Former U.S. President Donald Trump declared his vision to transform the United States into the “crypto capital of the planet” if he wins the upcoming presidential election. Speaking at the Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville, Tennessee, Trump expressed his admiration for the Bitcoin community, likening it to the early steel industry.

Trump predicted that Bitcoin could surpass gold in value, calling it a “miracle of cooperation and human achievement.” He criticized his political rival, presumably Vice President Kamala Harris, and highlighted his plans to bolster the energy supply using fossil fuels, vowing to roll back federal incentives for electric vehicles and charging stations.

Trump emphasized his commitment to making the U.S. a hub for cryptocurrency, asserting, “If crypto is going to define the future, it’s going to be mined, minted, and made in America.” He encouraged the audience to support his vision of a Bitcoin-led future.

However, Trump’s speech wasn’t the only highlight of the conference. Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. unveiled a bold plan to make the U.S. a dominant force in Bitcoin. He proposed transferring 204,000 BTC from the Federal Reserve to a strategic reserve and purchasing 500 BTC daily until reaching 4 million BTC, potentially giving the U.S. control over 20% of all Bitcoin.

Contrasting these political endorsements, Edward Snowden, a prominent speaker at the event, cautioned the crypto community against aligning too closely with political agendas. He advised attendees to be critical of politicians who support Bitcoin for political gain, urging them to vote but not to “join a cult.”

As the Bitcoin 2024 conference unfolded, it became clear that the intersection of cryptocurrency and politics is becoming increasingly significant, with varied perspectives shaping the future of digital assets in America.
