Darewise Entertainment, the game developer behind “Life Beyond”, has successfully raised $3.5 million from token pre-sales. This venture further strengthens the belief that the metaverse concept is still very much alive and flourishing.
“Life Beyond” is described as an open-world sci-fi game where participants engage in creating a new civilization, with the game’s economy being governed by NFTs (non-fungible tokens) and its own digital currency. This upcoming token, set to debut next year, is a collaboration between Darewise and Horizon Labs, known for the Ethereum-powered ApeCoin.
Introduced in 2018, Darewise Entertainment is channeling its energy towards crafting a metaverse anchored on Bitcoin Ordinals. These NFT-like creations allow users to inscribe data, including images and games, directly onto the Bitcoin blockchain, subsequently minting BRC-20 tokens. These digital inscriptions are uniquely tied to a single satoshi, Bitcoin’s tiniest fraction.
Among the significant investors of this token sale are Gamefi Ventures, London Real Ventures, Citizen Capital, Blocore, and Animoca Ventures. It’s important to highlight that Darewise Entertainment operates under the broader umbrella of Animoca Brands, a Hong Kong-based firm. By September 2022, Animoca Brands’ valuation stood at an impressive $5.9 billion, having birthed notable projects like the Ethereum-based game “The Sandbox”, frequented by celebrities such as Snoop Dogg and Paris Hilton.
The metaverse concept is seen as the future iteration of the internet—a shared, immersive digital space where users, represented by 3D avatars, can interact seamlessly. Even though Bitcoin might not be the obvious choice for developing open-world games and digital collectibles, its potential as a platform for creating a unified digital universe is increasingly recognized.
James Lim, the founder of Blocore, commented on their investment in Darewise and “Life Beyond”, emphasizing the game’s innovative blend of the Bitcoin ecosystem with an experience that could redefine the frontiers of digital interactivity.
