0G Foundation raises $30M selling AI nodes
0G Foundation has raised over $30 million by selling nodes for its decentralized artificial intelligence platform. The platform sold approximately 85,000 nodes to around 8,500 operators at about $360 each. This sale represents the second-largest node offering in Web3 and the third-largest funding round for decentralized AI, contributing to a total fundraising of around $400 million for 0G. The project has garnered interest from crypto-focused venture capital firms, which invested about $213 million in AI-related startups in Q3 2024. Node buyers received non-fungible tokens that represent claims on the nodes and can earn up to 15% of token emissions over three years. These nodes play a vital role in maintaining ethical AI behaviors and reinforcing the network's decentralized nature. The decentralized AI space is expected to see substantial growth, with predictions of about 1 million AI agents populating blockchain networks by the end of 2025, despite challenges such as centralization risks and regulatory hurdles.
