A New Era in Gaming: 'Minecraft' Clone Is Generated by AI in Real-Time
Silicon Valley startup Etched has unveiled a real-time AI-generated game called Oasis, allowing players to construct and modify a virtual environment reminiscent of Minecraft. In collaboration with San Francisco-based Decart, Oasis aims to demonstrate that AI can generate dynamic content without a traditional game engine. The first playable version was showcased recently, where users can interact with a block-filled world, building and destroying elements as they navigate. This project, born from the founders' inspiration by OpenAI's GPT-3, emphasizes a novel architecture that enables AI to create visuals instantaneously for numerous players. The demo saw a tremendous influx of users upon launch, nearly overwhelming the server. While the current build leverages Nvidia's GPUs, Etched is working on its own faster chipset named Sohu. This endeavor, although initially doubted as a viable business model, has gained momentum, aligning with the rising interest in AI-driven gaming experiences.
