Animoca Brands alerted users about the breach on December 26, 2024, stating there is no official token or NFT from them. The exploit likely stemmed from a phishing email claiming copyright infringement. Reports indicate that similar attacks have led to losses estimated at around $500,000 recently. The false promotion featured a token named MOCA, associated with the Moca Foundation, which has its own legitimate Moca Coin. Despite the incident, Animoca confirmed that its official accounts remain secure with strict security measures. Users were warned to remain vigilant and not to engage with the compromised account.
