Anthropic, a competitor of OpenAI, is reportedly negotiating a $2 billion funding round led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, which could elevate its valuation to approximately $60 billion. This represents a substantial increase of more than 233% since December 2023. Major tech players like Amazon and Google have invested in Anthropic in the past two years, further highlighting its significance in the AI sector. Founded in 2021 by former OpenAI members, Anthropic released its AI-powered large language model (LLM) called Claude in 2023, positioning it as a rival to OpenAI's ChatGPT. The growing interest in artificial intelligence is propelled by concerns over potential job displacement as AI firms aim to develop artificial general intelligence (AGI). Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, believes that AGI could be achieved as early as 2026. In a recent statement, OpenAI's Sam Altman suggested AI agents could begin impacting workforce productivity within the next year.
