Art Blocks, a leading platform for on-chain artwork, announced a significant advancement in its mission to enhance accessibility of NFT projects on the Ethereum blockchain. As of November 27, 2024, the majority of Art Blocks projects can now be accessed directly through the Ethereum blockchain without reliance on Art Blocks’ back-end generators. This shift means that approximately 90% of the artworks can be viewed online indefinitely, independent of the company's future operations. The artworks primarily utilize programming tools like p5js and threejs, while the remaining 10% still depend on third-party support. On this milestone date, founder Erick Calderon emphasized that this development represents a profound change in the creation, collection, and preservation of digital art. Although Art Blocks will continue to operate its centralized generator for visualizing pieces, full on-chain accessibility is pivotal for their long-term goals in the evolution of art.
