Sky Mavis, the company behind the popular NFT game Axie Infinity, announced it has laid off 21% of its workforce. Co-founder Nguyen Thanh Trung noted in a tweet that the decision was not due to financial difficulties but was a strategic move aimed at sharpening the company’s focus and positioning it for hypergrowth in 2025 and beyond. The company is shifting its priorities to enhance its offerings in the Ronin wallet, Mavis marketplace, and Axie Infinity, while also preparing for a new game and expanding the Ronin Network. The Ronin Network has established itself as a significant crypto platform for gaming, now claimed to be the third most utilized crypto network. Trung commented on the evolving regulatory landscape, hinting at potential benefits from a more favorable crypto environment under the new U.S. administration, which could spur innovation and adoption of Web3 projects.
