Ethereum layer-2 network Base has achieved a record 106.26 transactions per second (TPS), distinguishing itself as the fastest Ethereum layer-2 solution, surpassing Taiko. This figure marks a significant increase of nearly 28% from just a few days prior, highlighting an impressive growth trajectory from an average of just 4 TPS in January. Additionally, Base's total value locked (TVL) has now exceeded $10 billion, reaching approximately $10.68 billion. This places it as the second largest Ethereum layer-2 in terms of TVL, trailing only Arbitrum One, which stands at $18.3 billion. The growth in TPS and TVL positions Base competitively against other fast chains like Solana. Despite the growth, the network has faced challenges, including phishing scams that resulted in significant thefts. Base is also progressing towards decentralization with plans for implementing fault proofs in its development roadmap. Recent user engagement has pushed Base’s total transactions beyond 1 billion, indicating strong participation in this latest bull market.
