Binance Labs has rebranded to YZi Labs, expanding its investment scope to artificial intelligence (AI) and biotechnology, effective January 23, 2025. Former CEO Changpeng Zhao will actively mentor the incubator's startups, while Ella Zhang returns to lead the program. YZi Labs will initiate a 12-week in-person residency for project founders and explore the convergence of AI, blockchain, and biotech to fund innovative use cases. Prior to the rebrand, Binance Labs had been investing in AI startups and decentralized science projects, notably launching Sahara AI, a platform enabling users to earn rewards by contributing to its decentralized AI infrastructure. Their recent standardization into decentralized science includes a capital formation accelerator for biotechnology, known as BIO Protocol, aimed at developing pharmaceuticals and life-saving treatments. With a focus on decentralized science, the incubator hopes to address capital raising challenges faced by many innovative projects, gaining recognition within and beyond the crypto community.
