Bitcoin Trade Volume Wednesday Was One of the Largest Ever
Bitcoin's total trade volume on Wednesday surged to $130 billion, marking one of the highest trading volumes recorded in its history. This was a significant increase from the daily average of $65 billion, attributed to heightened activity since President Trump's election victory in November. The futures market accounted for $110 billion of the volume, making it the fifth-highest recorded, only surpassed in November and December of the previous year. The spot market saw approximately $15 billion traded, nearing an all-time high, while bitcoin ETFs contributed around $5 billion, half of the peak from March 2024. Additionally, options trading reached over $3 billion, indicating growing interest. The increasing volume showcases bitcoin's potential as a global settlement layer, attracting institutional interest eager to engage with substantial amounts swiftly.
