BlackRock’s Bitcoin ETF Sees a Record Single-Day Outflow of $332M
BlackRock's Bitcoin ETF, IBIT, faced a tumultuous start to the year with a record single-day outflow of $332 million on January 3, 2025. This outflow significantly surpassed the previous record of $188 million set in late December. The ETF, which manages over $53 billion in assets, has experienced consistent outflows since December 20, marking a notable trend. While such large outflows might indicate a lack of confidence in the ETF's strategy or the broader market, they can also stem from investors rebalancing their portfolios or taking profits. This contrasts with other ETFs in the sector, such as Bitwise’s BITB and Fidelity’s FBTC, which recorded inflows of $48 million and $36 million respectively. At the time of the report, Bitcoin's value stood just under $97,000, reflecting a 1.5% increase over the past 24 hours.
