BlackRock’s Bitcoin ETF tops 500K BTC holdings worth $48B
BlackRock’s spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF), the iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), has reached a significant milestone by surpassing 500,000 BTC in holdings. As of December 2, the ETF holds 500,380 BTC, valued at approximately $48 billion according to current market rates. This represents 2.38% of the total Bitcoin supply. BlackRock enables investors to access Bitcoin without the operational and custody complexities associated with direct holdings. The IBIT ETF is now the most actively traded Bitcoin ETF since its introduction, and its holdings have exceeded those of MicroStrategy, the largest corporate Bitcoin holder, which has 402,100 BTC. The upward trajectory of Bitcoin ETF inflows, except for the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust, indicates a growing institutional interest in Bitcoin, bringing the total held by all ETFs close to 1.1 million BTC.
