Chainlink has announced its expansion into Bitcoin for the first time through an integration with the layer-2 network Spiderchain, being developed by Botanix Labs. This partnership includes Spiderchain joining Chainlink's Scale program, granting access to Chainlink's oracle services, and incorporates the Chainlink Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP), facilitating token transfers across various blockchains. Botanix Labs is focused on making Spiderchain compatible with Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) layers, which allows applications or smart contracts on Ethereum to be easily copied and implemented on Bitcoin. The integration is a significant step towards bringing functionalities that are standard on other blockchains to the original blockchain, Bitcoin. Chainlink's services are already established across many major blockchains, including Ethereum, Solana, and BNB Chain, and this move marks a pivotal alignment of Bitcoin with modern blockchain functionalities.
