China is set to host a unique half-marathon in Beijing's Daxing district, featuring 12,000 human runners competing alongside humanoid robots. This race marks the first occasion when humanoid robots will engage in a full 21-kilometer course, with participation from over 20 companies showcasing their best walking robots. Unlike previous events, this competition will feature strict no-wheels policies for the robots, requiring them to resemble humans and walk on two legs, measuring between 0.5 and 2 meters tall. A standout contender is the Tiangong robot, capable of running at 10km/h, which had previously participated in last year's Yizhuang Half Marathon. The event, scheduled for April 2025, highlights China's focus on advancing robotics and AI, with plans for additional robotics competitions later in the year and an investment of 60 billion yuan in AI development.
