In December 2024, CleanSpark, a U.S. cryptocurrency miner, increased its Bitcoin holdings to 9,952 BTC, valued at about $1.01 billion. This significant rise is attributed to a boost in efficiency and a remarkable 287.9% year-over-year growth in hashrate, reaching 39.1 exahashes per second. During December alone, the company mined 668 BTC while selling only 12.65 BTC, which was a modest portion of their production. CleanSpark also acquired facilities in Knoxville, Tennessee, which are expected to increase its hashrate by 22%. Following this positive news, CleanSpark’s stock, traded under the ticker symbol CLSK, saw a notable increase even though it remains below its 52-week high. The firm has now surpassed Tesla to become the fifth largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, following MicroStrategy and three other mining companies.
