Kraken has introduced Ink, a new Ethereum layer-2 blockchain powered by Optimism's OP Stack. This network aims to provide on-chain wealth management tools catering to both experienced traders and newcomers to digital assets. Set to launch on testnet in November 2024 and mainnet in early 2025, Ink will benefit from integration into Optimism's Superchain, which comprises nearly 30 layer-2 chains. This setup facilitates improved communication and resource sharing, potentially solving issues related to fragmentation among layer-2 networks. Ink will offer rapid transaction processing with one-second block times, which will enable activities like perpetual futures trading and decentralized lending. Moreover, Kraken will share revenue with the Optimism Collective and support core developments for the OP Stack. The initiative follows similar ventures like Coinbase's Base, establishing Ink as a prominent player in the layer-2 ecosystem.
