As early voting for the 2024 election is underway, cryptocurrency-backed political action committees (PACs) have reported approximately $1.3 million in spending to support candidates from both the Democratic and Republican parties for the House of Representatives. In a filing with the Federal Election Commission, the Fairshake PAC disclosed expenditures exceeding $900,000 to support Democratic Representative Thomas Suozzi in New York, along with over $60,000 for Democratic Representative Yadira Caraveo in Colorado. Meanwhile, the Defend American Jobs PAC, which mainly backs Republicans, reported roughly $107,000 spent on media buys for several congressional candidates including Arkansas Representative French Hill. The influx of cash from crypto interests is significant in this election cycle, particularly as numerous candidates are embracing cryptocurrency as a key campaign issue. Notably, the Fairshake PAC has raised over $169 million since its inception, aiming to improve the industry's image and support candidates who favor the blockchain sector. The general election is set for November 5, with early voting ongoing in multiple states.
