The floor price of CryptoPunks NFTs surged by 13% following unconfirmed rumors that Yuga Labs might be selling the intellectual property (IP) rights to the world’s most valuable NFT collection. Researcher Wale.moca, who cited multiple sources close to the matter in a post on X, suggested that Yuga Labs is potentially in discussions regarding this sale, though no specific buyer was identified, and it was noted that it is not an existing NFT company. The floor price shot up from 36.6 ETH to 41 ETH, translating to over $130,000 within three hours of the post. This rumored sale marks a potential pivotal change in the NFT industry, given Yuga's stature in the market. Historically, Yuga Labs acquired 423 CryptoPunks NFTs from Larva Labs in March 2022 at a lower price point, underlining the significant appreciation in value since then. Yuga is also behind the Bored Ape Yacht Club projects, solidifying its influence in the NFT space.
