Decentralized AI Society plans regulatory pilot, venture fund
The Decentralized AI Society (DAIS) is a newly established nonprofit focused on addressing the centralization of AI models. Co-founder Michael Casey announced plans to launch a regulatory pilot in Bermuda and an AI venture fund next year. The aim of these initiatives is to create a pathway for decentralized economic groups to raise capital while avoiding pitfalls often associated with traditional fundraising models. DAIS was launched in September with a mission to influence policymaking and technology development at the intersection of AI and Web3, countering centralized developers like OpenAI and Anthropic who are lobbying for regulations that may establish their models as dominant in the market. With blockchain-enabled AI drawing attention and substantial investment—over $213 million from crypto-focused venture capital into AI startups in Q3 2024—DAIS is optimistic about the integration of AI and blockchain transforming the digital economy, enabling a future where autonomous AI agents engage freely within Web3.
