A class action lawsuit filed in 2022 against Elon Musk and Tesla, accusing them of manipulating the price of Dogecoin through media and social media interactions, was officially withdrawn by the plaintiffs on November 14, 2024. The plaintiffs have agreed not to seek any post-judgment relief and waived their appeal rights in U.S. courts. This lawsuit stemmed from allegations that Musk's appearances, including his hosting of 'Saturday Night Live' as 'The Dogefather,' constituted market manipulation of Dogecoin. Musk's legal team previously referred to the claims as a 'work of fiction,' asserting that there was nothing illegal about his tweets supporting Dogecoin. The case remains pending final approval from U.S. District Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein to formally conclude the litigation, which began two years earlier.
