Eight U.S. Blockchain Lobby Groups Unite Ahead of Trump's Crypto Friendly Regime
Eight blockchain associations from across the U.S. have formed the North American Blockchain Association (NABA) in anticipation of Donald Trump's upcoming second inauguration. The Texas Blockchain Council (TBC), which derives much of its funding from bitcoin miners, is optimistic about Trump’s cryptocurrency policies. Texas is a significant hub for bitcoin mining, accounting for over half of the U.S. total, prompting a need for effective energy policy advocacy. However, concerns arise regarding the state's electricity grid capacity as it faces an anticipated growth of 5-6% per year. While new bitcoin mining projects compete for energy alongside residential and industrial developments, the TBC believes ERCOT, Texas’ grid operator, will not act against miners but will remain vigilant about energy demand. This new coalition aims to present unified policy recommendations for the federal government, focusing on the burgeoning crypto industry amid shifting political landscapes.
