Ethereum devs mark milestone ahead of Devcon
The Ethereum All Core Developers (ACD) held their 200th meeting, marked by the launch of Mekong, a new short-term devnet for Devcon hackathons. Designed to support wallet developers and stakers, Mekong offers a focused environment for innovation as Ethereum prepares for upcoming changes. The call also addressed proposed EIPs 7002 and 7521 aimed at improving user experience by reducing accidental overpayments. Discussions on isolating parts of the fork for independent activation highlighted the complexity in approaches, balancing between fine-grained control and simpler models. Another topic was Ethereum's growing data footprint, with proposals for historical data management including the Sharded Blocks Protocol as a temporary solution. Furthermore, a proposal to address edge cases in contract deployment is nearing finalization after overcoming implementation challenges. Devcon presents a unique opportunity for core developers to gather and resolve issues, as they work to optimize Ethereum’s infrastructure amidst a competitive blockchain landscape.
