Illuvium, an Ethereum-based gaming franchise, is set to enhance its non-playable characters (NPCs) using AI agents from the Virtuals Protocol. This collaboration aims to implement smarter and more dynamic gameplay within Illuvium's three titles: Overworld, Arena, and Zero. The Virtuals Protocol has gained traction recently, enabling easier access to AI technology for game development. The goal is to enrich gameplay through improved storytelling and deeper NPC interactions. Illuvium's Overworld, an open-world survival game, is expected to adopt this technology first. In a bid to streamline its operations, Illuvium co-founder Kieran Warwick noted previous concerns about gameplay and proposed a more focused development approach, reducing microtransactions and aiming to transform Overworld into a more accessible experience akin to an MMO lite. The Virtuals token has surged by 117% over the past month, reflecting growing interest in AI-driven gaming.
