Dan Romero, the founder of the decentralized Web3 social protocol Farcaster, announced an update to Frames, set to enhance user interaction and application capabilities within the Warpcast social media platform. Frames v2 aims to address the limitations of the initial version, which had sparked a 400% increase in daily active users shortly after its January 2024 launch, although activity has declined since then. The new version will introduce a standard that supports interactive applications, on-chain transactions, and user notifications, allowing developers to create full-screen applications. Romero highlighted improvements in transaction reliability and speed, particularly on mobile devices. The new specification will be available for web and mobile on November 27, followed by an updated version on December 6, with a full stable release expected in January or February 2025. Currently, Farcaster has around 710,000 users with an average of 500,000 casts per day, but daily active users have dropped by about 28% in the last six months.
