Frenchman behind Trump Polymarket pump has ‘no political agenda’
Polymarket accounts controlled by a French national known as ‘Théo’ have made significant bets amounting to roughly $38 million on Donald Trump winning both the US Electoral College and the popular vote in the 2024 presidential election. A report from the Wall Street Journal revealed that Théo's accounts, including usernames like Fredi9999 and PrincessCaro, are primarily aimed at making money rather than influencing political outcomes. As of the report's date, Polymarket has seen around $2.9 billion in bets, with Trump favored at 60.3% over Vice President Kamala Harris. Théo holds approximately $7 million in shares betting on Trump's popular vote win and $27 million on his success through the Electoral College. With just days until the election, early voting is concluding in several states, raising anticipation for what is expected to be a closely contested race. Théo stated he has 'absolutely no political agenda' and is solely focused on profit from his bets.
