From Binance to SheFi, the frontier is feminine
Elena Sinelnikova, co-founder of Metis and CryptoChicks, argues that the Web3 industry is failing to embrace women's leadership despite their significant contributions and economic power. Currently, only a small fraction of Web3 projects have female founders, and they receive minimal funding compared to their male counterparts. The culture of Web3 remains predominantly male-dominated, which undermines its promise of inclusivity. Sinelnikova highlights that empowering women not only benefits them but enhances the entire ecosystem. Women are encouraged to create welcoming spaces that celebrate traits traditionally seen as feminine, such as care and collaboration. As women-centric communities flourish, they will enhance the visibility of female leaders in Web3, encouraging more women to pursue these opportunities. Despite research showing that women-led businesses tend to outperform male-led ones, deep-seated psychological barriers hinder progress. Education, mentorship, and support from feminine communities are vital for changing perceptions and fostering inclusion. The author calls for a cultural shift in Web3 that prioritizes inclusivity, indicating that the path forward involves more women taking active roles in shaping the industry.
