Gabby Dizon, co-founder and CEO of Yield Guild Games (YGG), reflects on the volatility in the crypto space, stating he does not believe in chasing narratives. Interviewed at the YGG Play Summit in the Philippines, he noted that while trends like meme trading exist, he prefers building for the future, anticipating a resurgence in Web3 gaming. Having started his journey in blockchain gaming by experimenting with Ethereum in 2017, Dizon expressed regret about entering traditional gaming too late. His follower count on X grew significantly from 2,000 to 137,800, largely due to his posts about NFTs and Web3 gaming during the market upswing in 2020 and 2021. Despite attracting a large audience, he described the pressure of fame as somewhat awkward. He has since narrowed his focus, emphasizing gaming over general NFT discussions and expressing optimism about the future engagement of gamers with crypto assets. Dizon envisions players increasingly participating in trading activities as the industry matures.
