Greece is positioning itself as a strategic hub for technology and artificial intelligence with the groundbreaking of two new data centers by French firm Data4, near Athens. The new facility aims to enhance Greece's digital infrastructure and global tech profile. During the ceremony on November 19, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis noted the investment's potential to boost the local economy and create skilled job opportunities. The first data center is expected to take two years to complete, with plans for a second center depending on market demand. The initial investment is estimated at 300 million euros, with potential total investment rising to 450-500 million euros for a third center. Data4, which operates multiple data centers across Europe, aims for a 7 billion euro investment target by 2030. Other tech giants like Microsoft are also making significant investments in data centers in Europe, including Greece.
