In New York, Attorney General Letitia James filed a lawsuit to recover over $2 million in cryptocurrency lost to a job scam that deceived victims into purchasing crypto with false promises of remote work. Scammers used text messages to lure victims into creating crypto accounts and depositing funds, only to steal the money without delivering any services. In another incident, Litecoin's social media account was hacked on January 11, wherein a scammer promoted a fake Litecoin token. The Litecoin team has regained control of the account and is investigating the breach, caused by a compromised delegated account.
