Metaplanet Inc. is set to increase its Bitcoin holdings by 470%, targeting 10,000 BTC in 2025 as part of its ongoing accumulation strategy. Currently holding 1,761.98 BTC valued at approximately 27.2 billion yen (US$173.6 million), the company aims to build on last year's growth, which saw the firm acquire Bitcoin at an average price of 11,846,002 yen ($75,000). This year, Metaplanet's CEO Simon Gerovich emphasized a focus on execution and shareholder value. The company reorganized its shares in mid-2024 to meet Tokyo Stock Exchange requirements, and recently expanded its Bitcoin purchasing power through a rights offering, raising 10 billion yen. The firm's strategy is characterized by systematic accumulation rather than sporadic purchases, with plans to leverage capital markets for future Bitcoin acquisitions. Analysts suggest that Bitcoin's anticipated rise could lead to broader institutional investments by 2025, aligning with Metaplanet's aggressive growth targets.
