Legion launches merit-based platform for ICOs in Europe
Legion, a crypto fundraising platform, has introduced a reputation system aimed at retail investors in Europe and startups looking to raise funds through initial coin offerings (ICOs) under EU regulations. This system simplifies investment by allowing projects to connect with investors based on specific attributes and behavior, such as on-chain history and social influence. Co-founder Matthew O'Connor highlighted that it helps prevent tokens from being sold to unengaged participants. The platform is designed to create a transparent matching system between reputable investors and serious Web3 projects, operating within a legal framework that categorizes utility tokens for ICOs while ensuring compliance with US regulations. In the future, Legion plans to integrate venture capital firms into their system and compete against retail investors in score rankings, promoting a healthier investment environment. Despite raising significant venture capital in 2024, the platform enforces restrictions on US retail investors to abide by local regulations.
