Metallicus announced that it has completed its testing and certification phase to launch its services on the Federal Reserve's FedNow instant payments platform. The announcement, made on October 22, 2024, follows a partnership first revealed in mid-2023. The certification process took over a year as the Federal Reserve aims to onboard thousands of financial institutions. Don Berk, COO of Metallicus, emphasized the company's efforts in working closely with banking partners to achieve this certification, enhancing connectivity within the Metallicus Digital Banking Network. FedNow, launched in July 2023, facilitates instant payments available year-round, unlike its predecessor, FedACH, which had time limitations. It's also reported to be significantly cheaper than traditional wire services, with the Fed confirming its distinct nature from central bank digital currencies (CBDCs).
