Japanese investment firm Metaplanet has surpassed 1,000 Bitcoin (BTC) holdings, becoming Asia's second-largest corporate Bitcoin holder, just behind Boyaa Interactive International, which holds 1,100 BTC. On October 28, Metaplanet announced the purchase of an additional 156.78 BTC, bringing its total Bitcoin holdings to 1,018.17 BTC, valued at approximately $68 million. The average purchase price for the Bitcoin acquired is around $61,629 (9.4 million Japanese yen) per Bitcoin. Metaplanet's CEO, Simon Gerovich, announced the milestone on X and confirmed that the company plans to continue purchasing Bitcoin in the future. Despite initial claims that Metaplanet had become the largest holder in Asia, it is still behind Boyaa Interactive International. Following Metaplanet is Meitu, a Hong Kong-based company holding 940.9 BTC, valued at $64 million. In response to economic pressures in Japan, Metaplanet shifted its treasury management strategy to prioritize Bitcoin as a reserve asset, leading to a significant increase in its stock price after its Bitcoin disclosures.
