Michael Saylor, founder of MicroStrategy, proposed to help Microsoft generate a trillion dollars by adopting Bitcoin as a treasury reserve asset. This suggestion followed news that Microsoft shareholders are set to vote on whether the company should invest in Bitcoin. Despite Microsoft's board urging shareholders to reject the proposal, Saylor tweeted to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, implying that his experience with Bitcoin could greatly benefit shareholders. Since beginning its Bitcoin investment strategy in 2020, MicroStrategy has become the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, currently owning 252,220 BTC, valued at approximately $16.8 billion. Saylor has argued that Bitcoin serves as 'digital gold' and ensures long-term value for shareholders. He expressed confidence in MicroStrategy reaching a trillion-dollar valuation, an increase from its current valuation of about $47 billion, showcasing the potential benefits of a Bitcoin investment for Microsoft.
