The Netherlands has initiated a consultation process regarding a crypto tax reporting bill that mandates crypto services to share user data with tax authorities. This move is in response to the European Union's DAC8 directive, which requires EU crypto service providers to collect and report their users' data. The government aims to enhance transparency to combat tax avoidance and evasion, as outlined by Folkert Idsinga, the State Secretary for Taxation. By improving cooperation among EU member states through data exchange on cryptocurrency transactions, the bill is set to operationalize the OECD's tax reporting framework for greater international transparency. The goal is to submit the bill to the House of Representatives by mid-2025.
