Nigeria frees Binance exec, Ripple appeals SEC XRP ruling
The Nigerian government has dropped charges against Binance executive Tigran Gambaryan, who was detained for over seven months. The decision was announced by a lawyer from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), indicating that Gambaryan did not play a key role at Binance, and suggesting his health was a concern. Meanwhile, Ripple Labs filed an appeal on October 25 in the US Court of Appeals challenging the SEC's ruling on XRP institutional sales, which resulted in a $125 million fine. The appeal requests a review of the case's legal interpretations. In another development, FTX reached a $228 million settlement with Bybit over a lawsuit aimed at recovering funds to repay creditors, pending court approval. Additionally, Denmark's Tax Council recommended a bill to tax unrealized crypto gains, proposing a simpler approach to taxing crypto assets, potentially impacting investors from 2026.
