Nintendo Switch 2 Preview: Everything You Need to Know
Nintendo has officially announced the Switch 2, the successor to its popular Switch console, after years of speculation. The new console, revealed in January 2025, will enhance the original's powerful hybrid design while improving its performance and features. Launching is expected in mid-2025 with a price speculation ranging from $400 for a digital version to $449 for the base model. The design appears similar to the original but with larger screen and controllers, magnetic Joy-Con attachments, and a new kickstand. It’s reported to have capabilities comparable to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, making it a significant upgrade over the original Switch. Notably, the Switch 2 will support backward compatibility with original Switch games, although some games may lose specific functionalities due to hardware differences. Nintendo has also confirmed a new Mario Kart game will be launched alongside the console. Hands-on events are planned for April 2025, leading up to the console's release.
