Nvidia has launched the Jetson Orin Nano Super, a low-cost AI computer priced at $249, which offers nearly double the processing power of its predecessor while being significantly cheaper. This palm-sized device can perform 67 trillion operations per second (TOPS) for AI tasks, representing a 70% performance increase. It features a 6-core ARM processor and Nvidia's Ampere architecture GPU, allowing for simultaneous operation of multiple AI applications. The memory bandwidth has been enhanced to 102 GB/s, enabling the processing of complex AI models and the handling of data from up to four cameras. Although equipped with only 1,024 CUDA cores, the Jetson operates efficiently on a lower power budget (7-25 watts), making it suitable for projects involving robotics, drones, and smart cameras. Existing Jetson owners will benefit from updates aimed at improving the efficiency of earlier models. The device supports various AI models and applications that can generate tokens at a reasonable rate, highlighting its capabilities for local AI processing tasks, making it ideal for hobbyists and developers looking for an affordable prototyping solution.
