Oracle Corp again sues crypto firm for alleged trademark infringement
Oracle Corporation has filed a lawsuit against Crypto Oracle LLC and its owner, Louis Kerner, in a California federal court, asserting that they have violated a previous settlement and court injunction related to Oracle’s trademark. The lawsuit, initiated on November 25, 2024, claims that Crypto Oracle resumed using the 'CryptoOracle' name despite a 2020 agreement that prohibited such use. Oracle alleges that the crypto firm is infringing on its trademark by using the name and branding in marketing cryptocurrency services to Oracle’s clientele. The complaint outlines various accusations, including trademark infringement, unfair competition, and breach of the settlement agreement. Oracle is seeking injunctive relief, monetary damages, and the transfer or removal of infringing domains and branding. Legal disputes concerning trademarks within the crypto sector have been notable, with similar cases in the past involving other companies such as Coinbase and Meta.
