Payments Giant Stripe Brings Crypto Services to Aptos as Circle's USDC Stablecoin Launch on the Network
Payments firm Stripe is expanding its crypto services to the Aptos blockchain, with Circle bringing its stablecoin USDC to the network for the first time. Previously, USDC was only available in a bridged version on Aptos. The integration aims to enhance global payments and support decentralized finance (DeFi) applications by adding Aptos to Circle's Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP), facilitating easier transfers of USDC across blockchains. Stripe will enable crypto on-ramp services, allowing merchants to convert government-issued currencies into USDC through Aptos-enabled crypto wallets. John Egan, Stripe's head of crypto, highlighted that this effort would improve accessibility for consumers and merchants engaged in international transactions. This move follows Stripe's acquisition of the stablecoin payment firm Bridge earlier this year for $1.1 billion, marking a significant step in expanding its blockchain capabilities for global payments.
