PayPal has announced that U.S. customers can now use Venmo to purchase cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum through the MoonPay platform. This integration allows Venmo users to fund crypto purchases using their account balance, direct bank withdrawal, or debit card. However, residents of New York and Texas are excluded from this feature. The announcement marks a significant move by PayPal to broaden access to cryptocurrency for everyday users, following its recent push to enable U.S. merchants to buy, hold, and sell cryptocurrencies. In addition to this, PayPal launched its own stablecoin, PayPal USD, aimed at providing a less volatile option for digital transactions. This new capability reflects PayPal's ongoing efforts to become a pivotal player in the crypto market, making it easier for users to transact in digital currencies.
