Republicans won the Senate, but 2 crypto races are still up for grabs
Republicans have secured a slim majority in the Senate for 2025, though outcomes for two candidates favored by crypto-backed political action committees remain uncertain. As of November 8, Democrat Ruben Gallego was leading against Republican Kari Lake for Arizona's Senate seat, with approximately 77% of votes counted. Gallego, a supporter of the Financial Innovation and Technology for the 21st Century Act, received backing from the Fairshake PAC, while Lake, although presenting herself as a pro-crypto candidate, did not have significant financial support from crypto leaders. In Nevada, Republican Sam Brown was trailing against Democrat Jacky Rosen, despite direct financial contributions from notable crypto figures such as the Winklevoss twins and others. While many in the crypto industry view the 2024 election as a win due to the overall support, not all candidates succeeded, notably Republican John Deaton against Elizabeth Warren. Crypto PACs reportedly spent about $134 million during the election cycle, and after results began to unfold, Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies experienced a notable price surge.
