Chris Larsen, co-founder and executive chair of Ripple, has donated $10 million in XRP to support Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris's 2024 presidential campaign through a political action committee (PAC) called Future Forward USA. This contribution follows Larsen’s earlier donations in August, making him one of the first major crypto backers of Harris. He emphasized the need for Democrats to adopt a new approach to technology innovation, particularly regarding crypto. The PAC has garnered over $200 million in contributions. In response to Larsen's donation, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse expressed that the company will continue to engage with both Democratic and Republican lawmakers advocating for pro-crypto policies. Despite the donation, reactions on social media have highlighted the partisan perception of digital assets. During the current election cycle, crypto interest groups have contributed substantial funds to various candidates running for Congress and the presidency, indicating a significant interest in the influence of crypto on politics. The presidential race between Harris and Donald Trump is currently viewed as a very close contest.
