Ripple, a major player in the blockchain payments sector, has announced a $25 million contribution to the Fairshake political action committee (PAC), aiming to support pro-crypto candidates in U.S. elections. This contribution follows a prior $45 million donation leading up to the 2024 elections, positioning Ripple as one of Fairshake's largest supporters, along with Coinbase and other major crypto entities. Pro-crypto candidates performed well in the 2024 elections, with Fairshake significantly influencing these outcomes. The PAC has indicated their dedication to backing candidates across party lines. However, the recent election resulted in a Republican trifecta for the first time since 2017, raising questions about future crypto regulation under a Republican-controlled Congress. Fairshake plans to leverage its funding for the upcoming 2026 midterms, especially focusing efforts against candidates skeptical of cryptocurrency. Ripple's CEO has expressed intentions to shape the political landscape favorably for the crypto industry, while other co-founders have shown support for different political figures. The 2026 elections will include all House seats and 33 Senate spots up for re-election.
