Russo Brothers’ Studio Taps Former Apple Executive to Lead AI Initiative
AGBO Studios, known for producing the acclaimed film Everything Everywhere All At Once, has appointed Dominic Hughes as its first chief scientific officer to enhance its AI capabilities. Hughes, an AI expert with a Ph.D. from Oxford, previously led Apple News following the acquisition of Swell, an audio news app he co-founded. The Russo Brothers aim to integrate AI into the creative processes of filmmaking, collaborating with writers and technologists to develop innovative storytelling methods. Hughes expressed enthusiasm about partnering with AGBO to pioneer next-generation filmmaking technologies. This move comes amid ongoing debates in Hollywood regarding the role of AI, particularly concerning writers' fears that AI could supplant their work. The Writers Guild of America has voiced caution over AI's integration within the industry, signaling a need for clear guidelines in future contracts. Negotiations between the writers' union and studios are expected to intensify as developments continue in AI applications for film production.
