Scammers are allegedly targeting aspiring crypto thieves by posting fake seed phrases linked to loaded wallets online. Cybersecurity firm Kaspersky reports that these nefarious actors create accounts to leave comments on finance-related YouTube videos, suggesting that they need help transferring Tether (USDT) and sharing a seed phrase bait. For instance, one wallet seen contained about $8,000 in USDT, enticing potential thieves. The trap requires them to transfer a small amount of TRON (TRX) to cover network fees. However, once they send TRX to the bait wallet, it is immediately redirected to another wallet controlled by the scammers. The bait wallet is configured to necessitate multiple approvals for any outgoing transactions, making it impossible for the would-be thieves to access the USDT even after sending funds. This scheme, targeting other criminals, highlights the risks of trying to raid someone else's crypto wallet. Kaspersky advises against attempting to access others' wallets regardless of the seed phrases provided as it can lead to scamming and loss of assets.
