SEC mulls approving Ethereum ETF options
The SEC is reviewing a request to list the first options tied to spot Ether exchange-traded funds (ETFs) on NYSE American. If approved, the exchange would feature options on the Bitwise Ethereum ETF, Grayscale Ethereum Trust, and Grayscale Ethereum Mini Trust, among others. This decision reflects a potential softening of the SEC’s stance on crypto products, especially following Donald Trump's recent presidential election victory. Three exchanges had previously sought approval for ETH ETF options in August. Listing spot Bitcoin options on regulated exchanges is seen as a pivotal moment for cryptocurrencies, offering substantial opportunities for investors. However, the exchanges must also gain approval from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and the Options Clearing Corporation (OCC). The SEC has extended its review timeline for these listings, with a decision now expected by December 3.
