SOL, XRP futures coming? And what about a DOGE ETF?
CME Group is considering launching futures contracts for XRP and SOL, although no concrete plans have been confirmed yet. This speculation arose after an inadvertent release of mock-up plans on their website. CME previously launched bitcoin futures in 2017 and ether futures in 2021, suggesting a pattern for future altcoin futures. The hint at SOL and XRP futures aligns with the recent acceleration of crypto ETF filings, including proposed spot funds for these cryptocurrencies. However, approval from the SEC is expected to be lengthy, especially since there are ongoing legal cases against Ripple. Moreover, Bitwise has registered a Dogecoin trust, adding to the discussions surrounding potential crypto ETFs. Despite these developments, formal product proposals have yet to be submitted to the SEC, indicating a waiting period for broader acceptance of such financial products in the crypto market.
