Sonic SVM, a layer-2 network on Solana, is set to launch its SONIC token on January 7, 2025, at 12 PM UTC. Alongside the token generation event, players of its TikTok tap-to-earn game, SonicX, will receive airdrops reflecting their in-app achievements. The SONIC token aims to support the growing ecosystem, facilitating game integrations and AI interactions. A total of 7% of the SONIC supply is allocated for the initial airdrop, which will also include allocations for node operators and NFT holders. Eligible users can choose between two claiming options: immediate access to 60% of their allocation with a vesting period for the rest, or a full claim at once without bonuses. Since January 3, users have been able to check their eligibility for the airdrop. The initiative emphasizes community engagement, with 30% of total supply reserved for ecosystem development, further supported by substantial player engagement on TikTok.
